El cine independiente norteamericano tiene una gran cita en las playas de Santa Mónica con los premios Independent Spirit Award, pero no son los únicos premios otorgados por los cineastas independientes. También existen los premios Gotham que los entregan los cineastas independientes de la Costa Este de los Estados Unidos. Los últimos ganadores Entre Copas, Capote y Half Nelson tuvieron posteriormente presencia en los Oscars.
Los galardones se entregarán el próximo 27 de noviembre y estos son sus candidatos:
